The World's End is a 2013 British science fiction comedy film directed by Edgar Wright, written by Wright and Simon Pegg, and starring Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, and Eddie Marsan. Wright, Pegg, Frost and the film's producer Nira Park have previously worked together on the television series Spaced, as well as the other two films in the so-called "Cornetto trilogy", Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Hot Fuzz (2007). The film follows a group of friends reattempting an epic pub crawl during an alien invasion.
The film is produced by Relativity Media, Big Talk Productions, and Working Title Films. Filming began in September 2012 at locations in Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth Garden City. Part of the film was also shot at High Wycombe railway station in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Filming ended on 22nd December 2012.
The film premiered on 10 July 2013 at Leicester Square in London and is scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom on 19 July 2013 and in the United States on 23 August 2013.
Plot
Five childhood friends reunite after twenty years to repeat a legendary pub crawl from their youth (which they originally failed) returning to their hometown once again to attempt to reach the fabled pub "The World’s End". Over the course of the night, they realize that the town has been taken over by robots and they begin to realise that the real struggle is "not just theirs but humankind’s", and completing the crawl becomes the least of their worries.
