Skyfall (2012) is the twenty-third spy film in the James
Bond series, produced by Eon Productions and distributed by MGM and Sony
Pictures Entertainment. It features Daniel Craig's third performance as
James Bond, and Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, the film's antagonist. The film
was directed by Sam Mendes and written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John
Logan.
In the film, Bond investigates an attack on MI6; it
transpires that it is part of an attack on M by former MI6 operative Raoul
Silva. The film sees the return of two recurring characters after an absence of
two films: Q, played by Ben Whishaw, and Miss Moneypenny, played by Naomie
Harris. Skyfall is the last film of the series for Judi Dench who played M; a
role which she had played in the previous six films. The position is
subsequently filled by Ralph Fiennes' character, Gareth Mallory.
Mendes was approached to direct the film after the release
of Quantum of Solace in 2008. Development was suspended when MGM encountered
financial troubles, and did not resume until December 2010; during this time,
Mendes remained attached to the project as a consultant. The original
screenwriter, Peter Morgan, left the project during the suspension. When
production resumed, Logan, Purvis and Wade continued writing what became the
final version of the script, whilst incorporating Morgan's ideas. Filming began
in November 2011, and primarily took place in the United Kingdom, China and
Turkey.
Skyfall premiered on 23 October 2012, and was released in
the United Kingdom on 26 October 2012, and in the United States on 9
November 2012. It was the first James Bond film to be screened in IMAX venues,
although it was not filmed with IMAX cameras. The film's release
coincided with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond series, which began with
Dr. No in 1962. The film was positively received by critics and at the box
office, becoming the highest-grossing James Bond film.
Plot
MI6 agents James Bond and Eve assist on a mission in Turkey to recover a computer hard drive stolen from a murdered MI6 agent that contains details of almost all undercover NATO agents in terrorist organisations. Bond and Eve chase the killer, mercenary Patrice, and attempt to recover the disk. During the chase, Bond is shot in the shoulder. While fighting Patrice, Bond is accidentally shot by Eve and is later considered "missing, presumed killed".
The head of MI6, M, comes under political pressure to retire during a meeting with the Intelligence and Security Committee Chairman, Gareth Mallory. On her return from the meeting, MI6 is hacked and an explosion occurs in the offices, killing a number of MI6 employees; the service relocates to its emergency offices underground. Bond, having used his supposed death to retire, learns of the attack and returns to London. Shrapnel taken from his earlier shoulder wound helps identify Patrice, and Bond tracks the mercenary to Shanghai.
Meanwhile, three NATO agents are killed after their identities are exposed, and further releases are threatened. After Patrice assassinates a target, he and Bond fight. Patrice falls to his death before Bond can learn of his employer. Searching Patrice's equipment, Bond finds a gambling chip which leads him to a casino in Macau. Sévérine, whom Bond saw earlier during the assassination, warns him that he is about to be killed, but promises to help him if he will kill her employer. Bond beats his attackers and joins Sévérine on her boat. They travel to an island, where they are taken prisoner by the crew and delivered to Sévérine's employer, Raoul Silva. A former MI6 agent who worked under M, Silva holds her responsible for his torture and imprisonment by the Chinese. Silva kills Sévérine, but Bond overpowers his guards and captures Silva for extraction to the UK.
Back at MI6's underground headquarters, Q attempts to decrypt Silva's laptop, but inadvertently enables it to hack the MI6 systems, allowing Silva to escape. Pursued by Bond, he uses the tunnel system under London, including part of the London Underground, as part of his plan. Silva disguises himself as a policeman and attacks M during a public inquiry into her handling of the stolen hard drive. Bond arrives to join Mallory and Eve in beating off Silva's attack, and M is hurried from the building by her aide, Bill Tanner. Bond drives M away from the scene and takes her to Skyfall, his remote childhood home in Scotland. He instructs Q to leave an electronic trail for Silva to follow, a decision supported by Mallory.
Bond and M are met by Kincade, the gamekeeper to the Bond family estate. The trio are only lightly armed, but they improvise a series of booby traps. When Silva's men arrive, Bond, M and Kincade fight off the first assault, although M is wounded. Silva arrives by helicopter with a second wave, and Bond sends M and Kincade off through a secret tunnel at the back of a priest hole to a chapel on the grounds. The second assault uses firepower from the helicopter, and Silva throws incendiary grenades into the building. Bond detonates two gas canisters with a stick of dynamite and retreats down the same tunnel as M and Kincade. The resulting blast causes the helicopter to crash, killing most of Silva's men. Silva sees Kincade's torch beam, follows, and arrives at a frozen lake ahead of Bond. Bond fights Silva's sole remaining follower, and the two fall through the ice, where Bond kills him. Silva meanwhile makes his way to the chapel and forces his gun into M's hand where he begs her to kill them both. Bond arrives and kills Silva, but M collapses from her earlier wound and dies. Mallory becomes the new head of MI6, while Eve—introducing herself as Eve Moneypenny—decides not to return to the field as an agent, but to work as M's secretary.

Wreck-It Ralph is a 2012 American 3D computer-animated
comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt
Disney Pictures. It is the 52nd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated
Classics series. The film was directed by Rich Moore and scripted by Jennifer
Lee and Phil Johnston. John Lasseter served as the executive producer. The film
features the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane
Lynch.
The film tells the story of the titular arcade game villain
who rebels against his role as a villain and dreams of becoming a hero. He
travels between games in the arcade, and ultimately must eliminate a dire
threat that could affect the entire arcade, and one that Ralph may have
inadvertently started. Wreck-It Ralph had its world premiere on October 29,
2012, and was released on November 2, 2012 in the United States and Canada.
Plot
At night when Litwak's Arcade closes, the various video game
characters congregate in Game Central Station. At the game Fix-It Felix, Jr.,
the characters celebrate the game's titular hero but shun its villain, Wreck-It
Ralph. At a support group for video game villains, Ralph reveals he doesn't
want to be a bad guy anymore. Returning to his own game, Ralph finds the other
characters celebrating their game's anniversary and that he was not invited.
Felix reluctantly invites Ralph to join them, but the others refuse to accept
him, saying he'd have to win a medal, just as Felix does.
While visiting Tapper's, Ralph meets a soldier from Hero's
Duty, a first-person shooter, who tells him the game's winner receives a medal.
Ralph enters the game and encounters Sergeant Calhoun, its no-nonsense leader.
Between game sessions, Ralph climbs the game's central beacon and collects the
medal, accidentally hatching a Cy-Bug, one of the game's enemies, in the
process. The Cy-bug clings to Ralph as he stumbles into an escape pod that
launches him out of the game. Meanwhile, Ralph's absence has not gone
unnoticed, as a girl tells Litwak that Fix-It Felix, Jr. is malfunctioning.
Since broken games are unplugged, leaving their characters homeless, Felix sets
off to find Ralph.
Ralph crash-lands in Sugar Rush, a kart-racing game. As he
searches for his medal, he meets Vanellope von Schweetz, a glitchy character
who makes off with the medal, planning to use it to buy entry into an
after-hours race. But King Candy and the other racers refuse to let Vanellope
participate, claiming she's not really part of the game. Ralph and Vanellope
build a kart for her, and Ralph teaches Vanellope how to drive in Diet Cola
Mountain, an unfinished game level where Vanellope lives.
Back in Hero's Duty, Felix meets Calhoun, who explains that
the Cy-Bugs can take over any game they enter. As the pair searches for Ralph
and the Cy-Bug in Sugar Rush, they become separated. Calhoun discovers the
Cy-Bug has laid hundreds of eggs, and Felix becomes imprisoned in King Candy's
castle. Meanwhile, King Candy finds Ralph's medal and offers it to Ralph in
exchange for keeping Vanellope out of the race. He explains that if her
glitches cause the game to be unplugged, Vanellope will be stranded in it
forever. Fearing for Vanellope's safety, Ralph wrecks the kart and returns to
Fix-It Felix, Jr.. He finds the game deserted, as everyone has evacuated in
expectation that their game will be unplugged in the morning. Ralph then
notices Vanellope's image on the Sugar Rush' cabinet and realizes she is
supposed to be part of the game and not a glitch.
Ralph returns to Sugar Rush and, upon locating Felix and
Vanellope, asks Felix to fix the wrecked kart so Vanellope can race. As the
race proceeds, the hatched Cy-Bugs attack and Felix, Calhoun and Ralph battle
them. When Vanellope catches up to King Candy, Vanellope's glitches reveal the
king is actually Turbo, a character from an unplugged racing game, who has
taken control of Sugar Rush. Vanellope uses her glitching to escape from Turbo,
who is consumed by a Cy-Bug. The group flees the doomed game, but Vanellope
cannot pass through the exit. Calhoun says the game can't be saved because
there is no beacon in the game; the beacon in Hero's Duty attracts and kills
the Cy-Bugs.
Ralph heads to Diet Cola Mountain, where he plans on
collapsing its Mentos stalactites into the cola at the bottom, causing an
eruption that would attract the bugs. Before he can finish, Turbo, merged with
the Cy-Bug that consumed him, carries him away. Ralph breaks free and dives
toward the mountain, hoping his impact will start the eruption. Vanellope in
turn uses her glitching abilities to catch Ralph. The eruption draws all the
Cy-Bugs to their destruction, including the Turbo Cy-Bug. Vanellope crosses the
finish line, restoring her memory as the game's lead character.Felix and Tamora
become husband and wife. Felix and Ralph return to Fix-It Felix, Jr. in time to
show Litwak the game works, sparing it and giving its characters a new respect
for Ralph's work as the villain.

Flight is a 2012 American drama film directed and
co-produced by Robert Zemeckis and featuring an ensemble cast including Denzel
Washington, Don Cheadle, Melissa Leo, Bruce Greenwood, Kelly Reilly, and John
Goodman. Flight is Zemeckis' first live-action film since 2000's Cast Away and
What Lies Beneath.
Plot
Airline captain William "Whip" Whitaker (Denzel
Washington) awakens in his Orlando hotel room with flight attendant Katerina
Marquez (Nadine Valezquez) after a night of sex and alcohol -- and very little
sleep. After using cocaine to wake up, he begins to pilot a flight to Atlanta.
Although they experience intense turbulence during takeoff, they reach a
non-turbulent altitude above the storm. Copilot Ken Evans (Brian Geraghty)
flies the plane while Whip discreetly mixes himself a drink and then takes a
nap. A few minutes before final descent into Atlanta, a loud mechanical noise
jolts Whip awake. The plane goes into a steep dive. After being unable to
obtain any manual control of the horizontal stabilizer, Whip rolls the plane
into an inverted position (flying upside-down) to bring it out of the nosedive,
then maneuvers the plane right-side up just before crash-landing in a field. He
loses consciousness upon impact.
Whip awakens in an Atlanta hospital. He is greeted by
Charlie Anderson (Bruce Greenwood), a former pilot and colleague who is now a
representative in the airline's pilots union. He tells Whip his heroism saved
96 of 102 people onboard. An NTSB official informs him Katerina was among those
killed. A doctor informs Whip that his injuries are not life-threatening and
that he will be soon cleared to return home.
The next night in the hospital, Whip meets Nicole (Kelly
Reilly), who is recovering from a heroin overdose. Whip promises to visit her
when they leave the hospital. In the morning, Whip is picked up by his friend
and drug dealer, Harling Mays (John Goodman), and goes to stay at his deceased
father's farm, where he hopes to avoid media interviews. Later he drives into
the city to meet Charlie and attorney Hugh Lang (Don Cheadle). They reveal that
the NTSB performed a toxicology screen while he was in the hospital that
revealed his intoxication, which could result in Whip going to prison on both
drug and manslaughter charges. Lang says he can convince the NTSB to disregard
the test results. On his way home, Whip passes Nicole's apartment, decides to
visit her, and sees her being evicted. Whip offers to let her stay at the farm.
Nicole and Whip begin a romantic relationship, but the
stress of the NTSB investigation exacerbates Whip's alcoholism and he
ultimately drives her away. The media discovers his farmhouse, forcing him to
stay elsewhere. In a drunken stupor, he visits his estranged ex-wife and son,
and has to be escorted from the house by the police. He goes to stay with
Charlie, and is forced to stop drinking ahead of the upcoming NTSB hearing.
The night before the hearing, Charlie and Hugh check Whip
into a guarded hotel room to ensure he does not get drunk. The refrigerator in
the hotel room is stocked with only nonalcoholic beverages, but Whip discovers
the door to the adjoining room is open and finds alcohol in that refrigerator.
Charlie and Hugh find him the next morning passed out and drunk. He has them
call Harling, who brings him cocaine to perk him up for the hearing.
At the hearing, Ellen Block (Melissa Leo), the lead NTSB
investigator, reveals that the cause of the plane's malfunction was a broken
jack-screw in the elevator assembly. She commends Whip on his valor, pointing
out that no other pilots were able to safely land the plane under the same
circumstances in simulations. She knows about his toxicology results but Hugh
has had them declared inadmissible. Just as it appears Whip will escape any
culpability, Block notes there were empty alcohol containers found on the
plane; Whip knows these were his. She points out that only the flight crew had
had access to the alcohol, and since only Katerina's toxicology screen showed
alcohol, Block suggests Katerina may have been drinking on the job. Whip admits
he was flying drunk. Sometime later, Whip is in a prison counseling group,
saying he is glad to be sober and does not regret doing the right thing. He has
reconnected with Nicole and is working to mend the relationship with his
estranged family.
