Revelation 3D stars Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington, Deborah Kara Unger, Martin Donovan, Malcolm McDowell, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Sean Bean, and is based on the survival horror video game Silent Hill 3 by Konami. Revelation 3D's plot follows teenager Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) who discovers on the eve of her eighteenth birthday that her presumed identity is false and as a result is drawn to an alternate dimension existing in the fictitious American town of Silent Hill.

Plot

After the events of the previous film, Rose (Radha Mitchell) and Sharon (Jodelle Ferland) seemingly find themselves trapped in Silent Hill. Rose decides to contact Chris (Sean Bean) through a mirror who tells him about a portal that could lead one of them out of the Silent Hill world. She chose to stay and send Sharon back to the real world since the cult is after her. Chris swears to Rose to protect their daughter at all costs for the town, and its inhabitants will come looking for them. Sharon, yielding an amulet, returns to the real world and is told by Chris how her mother died in a car accident, since Sharon can't remember anything.
At present, Sharon Da Silva (Adelaide Clemens), now a teenager, moves from place to place with her father Christopher Da Silva . They have both changed their names to Heather Mason and Harry Mason, respectively, in order to evade the evil cult that has been tormenting them for years. Heather is still having the same recurring nightmares she had as a child. Her recent nightmare is that of her in the amusement park of Silent Hill, while being confronted by the evil Alessa and setting Heather on fire.
While on her way to school, Heather is approached by a man named Douglas Cartland (Martin Donovan), who asks her regarding his identity. Heather shrugs him off and catches a bus. She later bumps into Vincent (Kit Harrington), a guy she met in her first day of school, when her reality shifts bizarre. She later spots Douglas on her way out of school and calls her father, who is being abducted by an intruder in their home. She is later cornered by Douglas as she is runs away from the monsters in the alternate world, while waiting for her father in a mall. He remorsefully reveals to her that he is a private investigator hired by the cult to find her and her father. However, Douglas is killed and dragged away from Heather, while trying to pull him inside an elevator. Discovering Douglas dead body in the real world, she flees the scene as she knows she could be pointed out as the main suspect.
Heather goes home, only to see their house to be ransacked and sees a painted wall message to go to Silent Hill. She collects an amulet and a box containing a journal that explained everything her father knew about Silent Hill and flees along with Vincent, not long enough before the cops arrive to arrest Heather. They drive to Silent Hill where Heather reads a note Chris left her writing about a cult member he killed few years ago who’s after Heather and how he couldn’t let her go back to Silent Hill. Meanwhile, Vincent reveals his true identity: he is the son of the cult leader Claudia Wolf (Carrie-Anne Moss) and the grandson of Leonard Wolf (Malcolm McDowell). He was sent to bring Heather back and was told his whole life about how evil Alessa is, but realizes that he can’t bring Heather to the cult since she’s the good left in Alessa’s soul. The world starts melting away into the alternate dimension right as Vincent tells her that she is the one capable of doing it since she is linked to Alessa. Vincent is grabbed by a monster and Heather is knocked unconscious.
She wakes up only to find herself in Silent Hill where she recognizes Alessa’s mother Dahlia (Deborah Kara Unger) in the foggy streets. Heather asks her about her father’s whereabouts and the other half of the amulet, to which she mentions Leonard Wolf and the Asylum. After parting ways, Heather hides in a building with mannequin parts and saves a girl from the monsters but are both separated as the girl gets dragged away to her death.
Meanwhile, Vincent is denounced as a traitor by the whole cult for trying to save Heather. However, despite him turning against the cult, he still succeeded in his mission: to bring Heather back to Silent Hill, so they can finally destroy Alessa. Claudia then orders his men to take Vincent to the Asylum to be “cured”.
Heather battles another creature on her way to the Asylum to find for the other half of the emblem but is grabbed in a corridor by imprisoned patients not long before Pyramid Head arrives only to chop off the patient’s arms (since Sharon is part of Alessa, Pyramid Head is compelled to protect her). She is then greeted by the blind Leonard who tells her how his own daughter, Claudia, locked him up since she thought he was “infected” with darkness and explains how she is worse infected than him. Heather reluctantly hands him the amulet since his body contained the other half. Leonard rams the amulet and is transformed into a monster but is the defeated by Heather who extracts the whole amulet from his chest. Heather finds Vincent strapped in a gurney in a room surrounded by undead nurses. Heather starts unlocking his chains which makes the nurses move but they managed to mislead them by pushing the gurney in another direction. They flee and arrive to the carnival where Chris is being held captive by the cult but is blocked by Claudia’s guards. Vincent then decides to sacrifice himself and kisses Heather not long before he distracts the guards.
She reaches the carnival and is soon confronted by the evil Alessa, and ensue a fight for dominance where the amulet is put back together. Heather soon finds the cult along with Claudia, Vincent, and Chris where Claudia explains how she was brought back to not only to destroy Alessa but to also give birth to their God who will cleanse the world of sin. Chris blood will be used to raise the God and Heather will be the “incubator” to bring it into the world which Heather thinks is insane. As Claudia retrieves the amulet, the spirit of Alessa channels out of Heather and into Claudia, transforming her into a grotesque monster. She tries to kill Heather, but Pyramid Head intervenes and swings his blade into Claudia’s head, decapitating her.
Heather, Chris and Vincent walk back into the middle of town where ashes have stopped falling as Heather states how things will change in Silent Hill since the cult is destroyed, and Alessa got her justice. Chris reveals he will be staying in Silent Hill to find Rose and tell Heather drive off the town and be free. They part ways as Heather and Vincent watch Chris walks into the fog into Silent Hill, desperate to save Rose.Heather and Vincent walk out of Silent Hill and back into the real world where they hitchhike from a man who introduces himself as Travis Grady (Peter Outerbridge). He drives the two away from the town while several police cars and a prison bus travel into Silent Hill as the sky turns into grey ash.

Paranormal Activity 4

 Genre:
Horror

Directed by:
  Ariel Schulman
Henry Joost

Starring:
Katie Featherston

Release date:
Fri 18, Oct 2012

Paranormal Activity 4 is a 2012 American supernatural horror film, directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, directors of Paranormal Activity 3, and written by Zack Estrin. The film features Katie Featherston, who starred in the first film, and had cameos in the other two. The film was released in theaters and IMAX on October 17, 2012 in the United Kingdom and was released on October 18, 2012 in the United States, by Paramount Pictures. It is the fourth film in the Paranormal Activity film series, and a sequel to Paranormal Activity 2, set several years later.

Plot

In 2011, Alex (Kathryn Newton) films her younger brother Wyatt's soccer match. At Alex's house, she shows her boyfriend Ben (Matt Shively) the treehouse in the garden. Here they discover Robbie, the neighbor's child. Puzzled as to why he is there, she takes him back to his own house across the street. In the early hours of the next morning, Alex hears an ambulance outside at Robbie's house. That day, Robbie turns up at the house after Alex's mom Holly (Alexondra Lee) offered to look after him for a few days, while Robbie's mother is admitted to hospital. Later on, Alex finds Wyatt and Robbie in her treehouse talking to Robbie's invisible friend.
In the evening Wyatt plays multi-player on the Kinect by himself, while Robbie sits on the sofa. Ben asks who Wyatt is playing with and Robbie answers that it's the invisible friend from the tree house. Ben turns the lights off and shows Wyatt the infra-red tracking dots. As Alex, Ben and Wyatt dance in the dark, Robbie sits on the sofa, where the camera detects an unknown figure moving next to him.
The next day Ben reveals to Alex that his computer automatically records their webcam chats, and in the middle of the night while Alex was sleeping, Robbie came in and slept next to her. Baffled by his odd behavior, Ben offers to install laptops around the house to record any other strange occurrences. Over the next couple of days, the computer records strange events around the house, including Robbie waking up in the middle of the night to talk to the TV, and Robbie and Wyatt chasing the silhouette of a small child figure throughout the house. Robbie draws a strange symbol on Wyatt's back, which Alex later finds to be part of an old cult (first appeared in Paranormal Activity 3).
Late one night Alex notices several black cars outside Robbie's house across the street; upon investigating, she discovers several women in black garb entering the house. She is confronted by one of these women and flees the scene. The next day Alex is home alone, and after hearing noises, follows them to the hallway, where the chandelier falls from the ceiling and smashes into the floor, almost striking her. Although her father Doug (Stephen Dunham) blames the light fitters, Alex is suspicious of Robbie.
The following day, Alex sees Robbie and Wyatt entering Robbie's house across the street. Alex follows them to discover that Robbie's mother Katie (Katie Featherston) is actually home, and shows no sign of illness. Wyatt tells Alex that Katie told him he was adopted, like Robbie. Alex questions her parents about Wyatt's real parents but they refuse to say anything. Later that night, Wyatt begins talking to an invisible figure, insisting that his name isn't Hunter. During this conversation a figure approaches him, but is interrupted when Doug enters the room.
One night during Wyatt's bath, Holly leaves the room to answer the phone, leaving Wyatt in the tub. He is violently pulled underwater by an unseen force, where he remains for a long time. He reemerges moments later, but is unnaturally calm and sedate, thereafter referring to himself as Hunter. That night, he appears in Alex's room, where she levitates off the bed while sleeping.
The next day, Holly is alone, and begins to hear strange noises. A possessed Katie enters the house undetected, and heads upstairs. When Holly enters the lounge an unseen entity suddenly picks her up and violently throws her against the walls, before dropping her on the floor. Katie returns to drag her body away. Ben later arrives to discover no one is home. He goes to view the footage in Alex's bedroom but Katie appears and snaps his neck.
Alex and her father arrive, and he thinks he sees Alex's mother with Wyatt walking to Katie's house. As he goes to explore Alex goes home to discover Ben's body. She runs out of the house and over to Katie's house to warn her dad, but witnesses him being dragged violently through the house by the unseen entity. She runs to a bedroom at the far end of the house but can't find his body. As she turns around to head back out Katie appears who storms forwards, demonically screaming to Alex. Alex quickly runs and climbs out of the window where she discovers Wyatt standing outside. She pleads with him to run away with her, but he stands there, blank faced and unmoved, just as numerous blank-faced people appear in Katie's garden. Alex turns the other way only to be attacked by a screaming Katie before the camera cuts out.

Argo

Genre:
Drama

Directed by:
Ben Affleck

Starring:
Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Ben Affleck

Release date:
Fri 12, Oct 2012

Argo is a 2012 American thriller film directed by Ben Affleck based loosely on Tony Mendez's(former CIA operative) account of the historical rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. The film stars Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, and John Goodman, and was released in North America on October 12, 2012. The film was co-produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, who previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed Good Night, and Good Luck.

Plot

The film opens with a brief history of Iran. In 1950, Mohammed Mossadegh was elected Prime Minister of Iran. One of his goals was to nationalize Iran's oilfields owned by Great Britain and the United States. In response to this, the CIA and British intelligence orchestrated a military coup in 1953 toppling Mossedegh and reinstalling the Shah. In his twenty six year reign the Shah was ruthless and repressive using his secret police to maintain strict and harsh rule. He then began to Westernize Iran which ignited fury amongst fundamentalist Muslims in the country. It finally reached a boiling point in 1979 when the Shah was overthrown and fled the country. He was quickly replaced by the long exiled Ayatollah Khomeini. In October, the Shah who had cancer sought refuge in the U.S. inciting fury in Iran.
On November 4, 1979, during the Iranian Revolution, a group of young Iranian revolutionaries took over the U.S. embassy in Tehran in retaliation for the country's support of the recently deposed Shah. Although most of the embassy staff are taken as hostages, six evade capture and hide in the home of Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor (Victor Garber). With the escapees' situation kept secret, the State Department begins to explore options for "exfiltrating" them from Iran. CIA specialist Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck), brought in for consultation, points out the fundamental weaknesses in all of the proposals for how to do so, but is at a loss to suggest an alternative until he gets an idea while watching Battle for the Planet of the Apes on TV with his son: create a cover story that the escapees are Canadian filmmakers, scouting "exotic" locations in Iran for a similar film.
Mendez and his supervisor Jack O'Donnell (Bryan Cranston) contact John Chambers (John Goodman), a Hollywood make-up artist who has previously crafted disguises for the CIA in addition to his work in the Apes film series. Chambers puts them in touch with film producer Lester Siegel (Alan Arkin). Together they set up a phoney film studio and successfully establish the pretense of developing Argo, a "science fantasy" in the style of Star Wars, to lend credibility to the cover story. Meanwhile, the situation in Tehran is getting more strained as the months pass, with the escapees growing frantic inside the ambassador's residence. Shredded documentation from the US embassy is being reassembled, providing the revolutionaries with evidence that there are embassy personnel unaccounted for.
Mendez enters Iran through standard channels under an alias, acquiring documentation of his visit as a producer for Argo. He goes to the ambassador's home and explains his plan to the six escapees, providing them with fake Canadian passports and extensive information about their fake identities to help them convincingly bluff their way through security at the airport. Although they are afraid to trust Mendez's scheme, they reluctantly agree to go along with it, knowing that Mendez is risking his own life too, and convinced that it is their only option. A "scouting" visit to the bazaar to maintain their cover story goes somewhat poorly, but Mendez manages to extricate them from the suspicious crowd.
Mendez is informed that the operation has been cancelled, to avoid conflicting with a planned military rescue of the hostages. He pushes ahead nevertheless, forcing O'Donnell to hastily demand of his superiors to reactivate logistical support. At the airport there is tension as the escapees' flight reservations are only confirmed at the last minute, a call to the supposed studio in Hollywood at first goes unanswered, and revolutionaries who have uncovered their ruse rush to stop them. But they successfully board the plane, which takes off with revolutionary forces in close pursuit.
To protect the hostages remaining in Tehran from further retaliation, all US involvement in the caper is suppressed, giving full credit to the Canadian government and its ambassador (who fled Iran with his wife under their own credentials as the operation was underway; their Iranian housekeeper, who had known about the Americans, escapes to Iraq). Mendez is awarded the Intelligence Star, but due to the classified nature of the mission, he would not be able to keep the medal until the details were made public in 1997. All the hostages are later freed on January 20, 1981. The film ends with Jimmy Carter giving a speech about the Crisis and the Canadian Caper, with screenshots from the film being contrasted with images of the actual people and events during the crisis.

Sinister

Genre:
Horror/Thriller

Directed by:
Scott Derrickson

Starring:
Ethan Hawke, Vincent Donofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Nicholas King, Clare Foley, Victoria Leigh, Juliet Rylance

Release date:
Fri 12, Oct 2012

Sinister is a 2012 supernatural horror film directed by Scott Derrickson and written by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. It follows true-crime writer Ellison (Ethan Hawke) as he discovers a box of home movies that put his family in danger. The film employs "found footage" along with traditional cinematography. Sinister premiered at the SXSW festival, and was released in the United States on October 12, 2012.

Plot

The film opens on Super 8 footage where a family of four are standing under a tree with bags over their heads and nooses around their necks. The family is lifted by their necks and strangled until they are dead.
Months later, true-crime novelist Ellison Osborne (Ethan Hawke) moves into the same house as the murdered family with his wife, Tracy (Juliet Rylance), and their two children Ashley (Clare Foley) and Trevor (Michael Hall D'Addario). Ellison uses the murders as the basis for his new book. Supposedly, there were five members in the family, and one of the children went missing after the murders.
Ellison finds a box in the attic, which contains a projector and several reels of Super 8 footage. He watches the films, all depicting families murdered in various ways, including having their throats slit and being drowned in their pool. The drowning one proves especially disturbing for him, as he sees a dark figure with a demonic face. Upon seeing this figure, strange things begin happening around the house. Ellison continues to observe the films, and discovers strange things in them, such as a strange symbol painted near the murders, and the demonic figure, which begins to show up in every film. He calls a deputy (James Ransone) to help him find the location of these murders.
After going through the images, the deputy refers him to a religion/cult college professor, Jonas (Vincent D'Onofrio), to decipher the symbol in the films. Jonas tells Ellison that the symbol is that of a Pagan deity named Bagul, who was known as an eater of children's souls. One night, Ellison hears the film projector running and goes up to the attic. He finds five children (all of whom were the missing from each family after they were murdered) watching one of the films. When Bagul suddenly appears in front of him, Ellison falls from the attic. Having had enough, he burns the projector and the film and moves out with his family. Upon returning to their old house, he goes into the attic and finds the box containing the projector and film, completely unharmed. However, there is a new item inside: an envelope with "extended endings." Within that, Ellison finds that after each murder took place, the missing child would come onscreen, revealing them to be the murderers, and then disappear.
Professor Jonas tells Ellison that Bagul would supposedly appear in images, which acted as portals between his realm and the mortal realm. The deputy explains to Ellison that he discovered a chain in the murders. Each of the families that were murdered lived in a house where a murder took place before they moved to another house where the next murder would happen and so on. After learning that Ellison and his family moved, the deputy tells him that he's only continuing the chain. Ellison suddenly finds glowing green liquid inside his coffee and loses consciousness.
Upon waking, he finds himself and his wife bound and gagged. Ashley walks in, carrying an axe and a Super 8 camera. She then documents the grisly murders of her father, mother, and brother, and paints the walls in their blood. She then goes to the projector and plays the film she just took, revealing the children in the hallway. Upon Bagul's appearance, the children run away. Bagul picks up Ashley and walks into the film with her.
The final shot shows the box of film in the attic of the Osborne house, this time with a new canister that reads "Family Painting '12.

Taken 2

Olivier Megaton

Starring:
Liam Neeson

Release date:
Fri 05, Oct 2012

Taken 2 is a 2012 English-language French action film directed by Olivier Megaton which stars a wide international cast including Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen and Rade Šerbedžija. It is the sequel to the 2008 film Taken, and was released on 3 October 2012.

Plot

After the events in Paris in Taken, relatives of the men whom Bryan Mills (Neeson) killed while searching for his daughter, Kim (Grace), return to their hometown, Tropojë, Albania, for the dead men's funeral. During the ceremony, Murad (Šerbedžija), the employer of the men and father of Marko, a victim whom Bryan killed by electrocution, states that they will find Bryan to avenge the deaths of their loved ones.
When arriving at Kim's home to take her on a driving lesson, Bryan learns from her mother Lenore (Janssen), who is currently having relationship problems with her husband, that Kim is not there and that she has a new boyfriend. After Lenore's husband cancels their holiday to China, Bryan suggests that Kim and Lenore join him in Istanbul after he has finished a work assignment there. After being led to believe that they have not taken him up on the offer, Bryan is surprised to find that Kim and Lenore have indeed flown out to join him.
Later, after lunching in the marketplace, Kim stays behind at the hotel in an attempt to help her parents rekindle their relationship. While Bryan and Lenore are out, they are pursued by Murad's men, and, despite Bryan's efforts, Lenore is captured, forcing Bryan to surrender. Before he does so, he calls Kim to explain the situation and tells her to hide. With advice from Bryan, she is able to evade the kidnappers.
Bryan wakes up with his hands tied to a pole in a dark room. Using a communications device that he has hidden in his sock, Bryan calls Kim, instructing her to go to the US Embassy and tell them what happened, but she begs for a chance to help him and Lenore, which he decides to give her. Under Bryan's guidance, she opens up his weaponry suitcase and throws a live grenade out of the window. Bryan uses the time it takes for the sound of the explosion to to reach him in order to deduce his location. He then has her take a gun and two more grenades and travel towards his location via the rooftops, while he frees himself from his restraints. Bryan then sends steam up a chimney to pinpoint his location, and Kim drops the gun down the chimney, allowing Bryan to use it to kill the guards and escape the building, leaving Lenore behind while he rescues Kim, who is being chased.
Bryan later returns, intending to rescue Lenore, but he is unable to do so as she has already been taken away. This forces Bryan and Kim to drive through the city in a stolen taxi while being chased by Murad's men and the police, who were summoned by the taxi driver. The chase ends with Bryan and Kim's crashing through a military checkpoint leading into the US Embassy. Bryan calls Sam (Orser), a friend and former CIA colleague, and has him call off the embassy guards. Having memorized the route the kidnappers used when they first took Bryan and Lenore to Murad's safe house, he returns to the building and kills the men guarding Lenore before confronting Murad. After confirming with Murad that his two remaining sons will want revenge should Bryan kill him, Bryan offers to let him walk away if Murad leaves Bryan and his family alone. Murad seemingly agrees, and Bryan drops his gun, but when his back is turned, Murad grabs the gun and attempts to shoot Bryan, only to discover that Bryan has emptied the magazine. Murad attempts to attack Bryan, but Bryan pushes him against a wall, impaling him on a towel hook and killing him instantly. Bryan then reunites with Lenore.
Three weeks later, the Mills family eats at a café to celebrate Kim's passing her driving test. They are joined, much to Bryan's surprise, by Kim's boyfriend Jamie, and Kim jokingly asks her overprotective father not to shoot him.

Frankenweenie

Genre:
Comedy/Horror/Animation

Directed by:
Tim Burton

Starring:

Release date:
Fri 05, Oct 2012

Frankenweenie is a 2012 3D stop motion comedy-horror family film directed by Tim Burton. It is a remake of Burton's 1984 short film of the same name and is a parody of and an homage to the 1931 film Frankenstein based on Mary Shelley's book of the same name. Like both those films, Frankenweenie is in black and white. In the film, a boy named Victor loses his dog, named Sparky and uses the power of science to resurrect him. The film was released by Walt Disney Pictures on October 5, 2012 and met with positive reviews and moderate box office sales. It was the first black-and-white feature film and the first stop-motion film to be released in IMAX 3D.

Plot

Young filmmaker and scientist Victor Frankenstein lives with his parents and dog Sparky in the quiet town of New Holland. Concerned with his son's isolation, Victor's father encourages him to take up baseball and make achievements outside of science. Victor hits a home run at his first game, but Sparky, pursuing the ball, is killed by a car. Inspired by his science teacher Mr. Rzykruski's demonstration of the effect of electricity on dead frogs, a depressed Victor digs up Sparky's corpse, brings him to his makeshift laboratory in the attic, and successfully reanimates him with lightning. Seeing a cat, the undead Sparky escapes from the attic and explores the neighborhood. He is recognized by Victor's hunchbacked classmate Edgar Gore, who blackmails Victor into teaching him how to raise the dead. The two reanimate a dead goldfish, which turns invisible due to an error with the experiment. Edgar brags about the undead fish to their other classmates—Nassor, Toshiaki, Bob, and a girl nicknamed "Weird Girl"—sparking their own interest in reanimation so they can show off their resurrected pets at the town science fair.
Victor's parents discover Sparky in the attic and are frightened, causing the dog to flee. Victor and his parents search for Sparky while the classmates invade the lab, discovering Victor's reanimation formula. The classmates separately perform their experiments, which go awry and turn the dead animals into monsters—Weird Girl's living cat Mr. Whiskers holds a dead bat while it is electrocuted, turning him into a vampire cat; Edgar turns a dead rat he found in the garbage into a wererat; Nassor revives his mummified hamster Colossus; Toshiaki's turtle Shelley is covered in a growth formula and turns into a giant Gamera-like monster; and Bob's Sea-Monkeys grow into amphibious humanoid monsters. The monsters break lose into the town fair where they wreak havoc.
After finding Sparky at the town cemetery, Victor sees the monsters attacking the fair and goes to help his classmates deal with them—the Sea-Monkeys explode after eating salt-covered popcorn, and Colossus is stepped on by Shelley, while the rat and Shelley are returned to their original, deceased forms after being electrocuted. During the chaos, the town mayor's niece Elsa van Helsing is grabbed by Mr. Whiskers and carried to the town windmill. The townsfolk blame Sparky for her disappearance and chase him to the windmill, which the mayor accidentally ignites with his torch. Victor and Sparky enter the burning windmill and rescue Elsa, but Victor is trapped inside. Sparky rescues Victor, only to be dragged back inside by Mr. Whiskers. Both pets are killed when the windmill collapses. To reward Sparky for his bravery, the townsfolk gather to revive Sparky with their car batteries, reanimating him once more.
